History

Cathedral Catholic School was founded in Natchez, Mississippi by the Daughters of Charity in 1847. These courageous women traveled into the wilderness to establish a Catholic Christian School where no schools existed before. The spirit of these brave sisters live on in a school that requires every student at every level to receive theological training in an academic yet faith-filled environment.

 Classroom 

Cathedral students attend masses and prayer services regularly that reinforce strong Christian values and help to establish a communal bond among all participants.

Service 

Students in grades 9 - 12 are required to perform ten service hours per quarter. This service is a means in which to instill Christian ethics into daily routine. The service is to include volunteering for Church, School, and Civic needs.

Retreats

Students in grades 6 – 12 participate in annual class retreats. Retreat Days are set aside to foster spiritual growth and encourage class unity. Cathedral School’s Peer Ministry Team plans and implements a retreat based on the needs of each particular class.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” – Psalm 133:1

Prayer

The Cathedral Family begins each school day in prayer. Each individual class begins with prayer throughout the day. The richness of prayer is encouraged and extended into athletic events, all school meetings, and most especially one’s personal life.
